Takin' Care of Business

Finished my newspaper dress! I'm so glad to be done with this! I honestly don't like it very much. My mold by itself was on the wider side and it caused the dress to look very short and stocky (fat for lack of a better word) I think if it looked thinner and possible taller, it would look WAY better. And I'm also not all too satisfied with the bow. I was hoping that would be my favorite part, but it definitely came out looking the worst. I do however think that everything else turned out very nicely. Everyone needs room to improve though right?

On another note, my stuffed animals are SOOOO close to being complete.I just have a few things I have to hand sew and then they are finished as well. I will post them as soon as they are done along with the pictures of my other two lines.

  1. for your first time making a dress out of newspaper, of course it's going to look rough. BUT i think it looks great and I can tell you put a lot of effort into it. :) great job breann!

  2. The bow looks fine! And the mold looks much better with the bow and skirt attached. The entire waist-up looks really good.

The skirt looks a little..."weak" though. It would look better with more strands. It could just be the way the dress is sitting in the picture though. I am just trying to picture it as if it were actually on someone-it looks more like a hula skirt. Again though, it could just be the way you set it up.

I can't wait to see the stuffed animals!
I am glad that you got back to work and are finishing your projects up!

  3. Nikki is correct. It looks like you put a lot of effort into this piece. Leslie is on the money as well. The waist up looks terrific. Just needs more strands on the bottom (Please don't worry about trying to do this before class on Wednesday. You can add more later). You have a wonderful combination of textures and methods of working with the newspaper.
