So I have been fairly busy working on all my stuff. I'm kind of jumping from project to project so I don't get too bored or annoyed with anything.
I learned that I SUCK at making things out of paper. I was definitely not made to sculpt anything. That's for sure. I'm not all too happy with how my dress is looking. I can make much better clothing from fabric. I can't really restart on this though. Just that little bit has taken most of my summer to do. So I'm just gonna have to work with what I got and hope that it works out. All I have left to do is the skirt and the bow on top. So hopefully I can use those and make the dress look much less boxy and lame :/
Now I personally find my stuffed animals to be completely adorable. And I am SO close to being done with them. I just need to add flowers on top of their heads with faces, adjust the pipe cleaner lengths, stuff them, and put on a bottom. I can't wait to get these finished. :)
I'm sorry your dress isn't working out well... I agree that it looks a bit boxy, if only the waist could be a LITTLE more thinner... Hopefully, the bow and skirt help it though.
ReplyDeleteYour stuffed animals, however, look absolutely ADORABLE! I can't wait to see them done!
When you bring them into school, if one of them goes missing, you'll know why. :[D
Dress- The repeating shape looks good. The only areas that don't seem to be working right now are the flat areas. Paper can achieve designs that fabric can't and there are things fabric will do better than paper (besides being more durable). The flat areas are the parts that fabric could do better, so it stands out when you try and create that out of a material that doesn't do it as well as the traditional material we make dresses out of. To get a flat look you could cut out a shape of your choice and lay it down like shingles on a roof. You would get a "flat" look, but it would be created in a manner that is more suitable for paper. The dress is looking better than I think you are giving it credit. You have a strong bodice. You just need to ramp up the other areas.
ReplyDeleteThe stuffed animals look good.
Okay. I'm gonna keep working at both and hopefully be able to say I am proud of both by the end. I'll keep what you said in mind as I finish up.
ReplyDeleteLeslie: Be nice to my stuffed animals. They are too cute to be stolen :)
Hey, I have a nice place on my desk to put one!
ReplyDeleteHehehehe...
Cannot decide which one to take though. I think right now I am leaning towards the Id...
So, if some weird ginger you don't know comes up to you and steals the Id... :{D
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I finally found another person doing the fashion portfolio!! I hate paper soooo freaking much.
ReplyDeleteYou're doing fashion?! I thought I was all alone! I'm so excited now :) And I know the feeling about the paper haha
ReplyDeleteYeah I thought I was alone too!! Haha. I'll have to post my progress on my dress. I finished to top today!!:) But the bottom still needs work..
