Another One Bites the Dust

Finished my candy wrapper article of clothing (A piece for breadth). As you can probably tell, I made a vest. For this I used candy wrappers(of course), packaging tape, a little bit of black duct tape, and two silver buttons.

Now all I have left to do it my toilet paper dress. I'm designing it to really challenge me since I finished these past three projects so much quicker than I had expected to. So far my design will use A LOT of toilet paper. It's gonna be interesting to see how it goes.

Completed Concentrations

I have officially finished concentrations one and two. Thoughts?

Front of #1: This one is made from table cloth, tissue paper, and elastic
 Back of #1

Concentration #2: The entire dress is made from white and black garbage bags

Ugh

Just went to redo my first concentration and right away I mess up twice. So now I have to redo it yet again. So annoying. Plus I still have to make concentration number two and do two more breadth assignments. I need to get it all done before the 17th or it wont get done at all. I feel very overwhelmed, but I know I can do it. I'll start back up again tomorrow and I know I can do this. Eight days to go so that's two days for each piece of art. That's not a lot but if I put all of my free time into it, then it will all get done. Just gonna have to start being overly careful I guess. Can't afford to make any more mistakes.

Beyond Annoyed

So this WAS the final result of my dress. Just finished it tonight. Spent all day working on it to make it perfect. Then somehow(that I still haven't figured out) it ripped to the point where I CAN'T fix it. The only way I could possibly fix it would be to remake the ENTIRE dress. Oh and it's due tomorrow, so I don't have time to do that. I'm so pissed.. I'm going to remake it during the little free time I have while also working on my 2nd concentration that way I have something descent to send into AP. Ugh...

Oh those happy times

Finally finished the bodice of my recycle dress! (Well kind of. Just need to find a zipper to put on it is all.) I will be getting started on the skirt tomorrow. So hopefully all goes well. I'm excited about how it all gonna turn out. So far I'm really liking it. (and I almost never like my work)

Busy Busy Me

Okay so as of now, I am half way done with the top half of my recycle dress. I would take a picture but since it isn't on a model, it just looks like a big black thing. I need to add elastic to the back tomorrow and that part will be finished. I'll try and remember to take a picture of my design to put on here. Although, I have tried 3 different mediums on my design already and none of them really look good. I don't know that I am happy with the style I chose to do this one in. I think I will try something a little different with my next one and see what I like best for the rest of my designs.

I also have an entire bag full of candy wrappers for that project. It should be a lot of fun. I just got start making those designs out soon. My recycle dress and design come first though. I wish I could find a way to get a little more motivated.

Inspiration file

These are some photos I found online that give me inspiration on my designs. Some I don't know what I want to do with yet, and others I have made designs from before from looking at them for inspiration.
I don't know what categories these will fit into for my Inspiration Binder, but they will all for sure be in the binder.

Also, I'm super sad I couldn't make it to school today to see the presentation. I got really sick this morning and wouldn't have even made it through first period. I hope everyone really enjoys it though. I know I would have.

Candy collection

I collected my first candy wrapper today for the article of clothing I have to make. It's a Snickers wrapper. I actually am really happy about having this as a project, since I was planning on having it as part of my concentrations. So that will be super nice :)

Finished with the drawing of all 3 lines of stuffed animals! And I am now done with my AP Art homework!

This line is called Pepper. I drew Past, Present, and Future versions.

This is the Traffic Light Crew. These are the updated versions of them.

Last, I have my Tanabata line. Tanabata is a story of two lovers, Orihime (a princess and weaver) and Hokiboshi (a hearder). Orhime's father, Tentei (a god) set her up with Hokiboshi in hopes to make her happy. The two fell in love and their work began to suffer. Tentei was upset and split them apart. Their work still suffered after this because they were too upset to do anything. So Tentei cam up with the idea that if they did all of their work that year, then he would let them see each other for one day, July 7th (also my anniversary, which is why I picked this story) Then they would be allowed to cross over the milky way for a night to see each other. For this story, I drew a stuffed animal of each of the characters.

One more off the list

Done making my stuffed animals! I find them completely adorable :) They don't stand up right, but for my first time every making stuffed animals, I would say I did pretty good. Now all I have left to do is finish drawing my other two lines of stuffed animals. That will be a piece of cake.

Takin' Care of Business

Finished my newspaper dress! I'm so glad to be done with this! I honestly don't like it very much. My mold by itself was on the wider side and it caused the dress to look very short and stocky (fat for lack of a better word) I think if it looked thinner and possible taller, it would look WAY better. And I'm also not all too satisfied with the bow. I was hoping that would be my favorite part, but it definitely came out looking the worst. I do however think that everything else turned out very nicely. Everyone needs room to improve though right?

On another note, my stuffed animals are SOOOO close to being complete.I just have a few things I have to hand sew and then they are finished as well. I will post them as soon as they are done along with the pictures of my other two lines.

Not ready for school

I don't have much left to do on my projects, but I'm at the point where everything I have left to do is the tedious stuff. I can't seem to get the want to begin to finish and I only have like a week left. I don't usually procrastinate, but I am not happy with how my projects have come out so far and so I have no motivation to finish them just to be upset with what the end up like. It's becoming a vicious thought process.

Hectic next year

Learned today that if I want to take AP art and choir, I have to take choir as independent studies. What are the odds that my favorite classes would be in the SAME periods. AP art is ONLY first and second period and I have choir both of those periods. So now my second period choir class will be independent study so I can stay in AP art. On the bright side, I get early release first trimester. That will be helpful I'm sure. I'm going to have NO free time next year even with the early release. Coffee will be my best friend once again :)

Monday, August 15, 2011

So I have been fairly busy working on all my stuff. I'm kind of jumping from project to project so I don't get too bored or annoyed with anything.

I learned that I SUCK at making things out of paper. I was definitely not made to sculpt anything. That's for sure. I'm not all too happy with how my dress is looking. I can make much better clothing from fabric. I can't really restart on this though. Just that little bit has taken most of my summer to do. So I'm just gonna have to work with what I got and hope that it works out. All I have left to do is the skirt and the bow on top. So hopefully I can use those and make the dress look much less boxy and lame :/

Now I personally find my stuffed animals to be completely adorable. And I am SO close to being done with them. I just need to add flowers on top of their heads with faces, adjust the pipe cleaner lengths, stuff them, and put on a bottom. I can't wait to get these finished. :)

Been Busy

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I didn't have batteries for my camera. This is what I have been up to though.

I made a new dress design that will be more fitting to make from the newspaper.
These are the circles I plan on putting on the dress. I made them about a week and a half ago. There are 60. Making them took me about 3-5 hours a day for 3 days. They seem simple, but making those circles is VERY time consuming.
These are the flowers going around the middle of the dress separating the top from the skirt. I made these a few days ago. There are also 60 of these (seems to be the common amount needed upon measuring) This took me about 2 1/2 hours.
Today I spent the time making my mold to put my dress on. I used 2 rolls of saran wrap and 1 1/2 rolls of packaging tape. I've been putting off making the mold for awhile now, so I'm glad to have finally got that done and out of the way.

Traffic Light Crew

This is my first set of stuffed animals. I call them the Traffic Light Crew. They are based off of the three parts of the human psyche: The Id, the Ego, and the Super Ego; in relation to each light on a traffic light.
Green is the Id because the Id is "I want to do this, so I will" and the green light means "go"

Yellow is the Ego because the Ego helps decide between the Id and the Super Ego and when you reach a yellow light, you can decide whether to speed through the light and hope you make it, or stop for the red.

Red is the Super Ego because the Super Ego is basically your concience. It tells you to do what is right instead of what you want and a red light means "stop"

Debatable

So I think this is what I am planning on making as my newspaper dress. None of that is set in stone, but I feel like I can put a lot of detail into this design and that it could end up coming out very well.. At least that's what I am hoping for.

Getting started early

So I have already come up with a design for my newspaper dress that I love. I feel like it has a lot of detail and should be fun to make. Now I'm trying to figure out a body mold to put it on. I have yet to figure out how I'm going to do that. Also, I've already run into frustration in creating designs for my stuffed animals. Nothing I think of is unique enough in my mind. I'm still on the drawing board with that one. I'm staying optimistic though. I know I can do this if I just keep on trying and stay determined. I got this :)

This is Ponderous

So at the moment, I have nothing to write. So I'm just going to say hi to everyone in AP Art Studio next year. I look forward to creating amazing things along side all of you.
